No It's cumulative. Take your time. Don't wear yourself out.

I thought I'd already had completed that many duels but it only says 29/100 and I know I've done more than that. I'm sure that I have.

 

P.S. I just checked and it said 100 duels fought each day so I don't know.

there are some deeds that require that the requisite amount of attempts occur within a given time frame, usually 24 hours...

I've done these. It's impossible to do this in one go. And as far as I know there are no time achievements. And is it worth the diamonds?

Yes, I checked and it resets itself every 24 hours which is totally ridiculous, you'd need a ton of earned diamonds to buy missiles and be prepared to sit at the computer all day, duels are every ten minutes and that is just crazy.
