Why can't we just remove our own posts if they are getting too old?

 

I just had to report one of my old posts to have it removed.

 

It would be easier if people could just remove their own posts.

We do not remove old posts because the information is still useful to new members. There is no logical reason to remove old posts unless the information is no longer valid. When you request topics removed we simply hide them.

I put up a post about making profile pics but the image is gone and there's just an imgur message, can that be removed?

Yep it's been hidden

 

Just to clarify for anyone else that may read this. Once you create a topic or make a post you have 30 minutes to edit it. Once someone creates a topic it becomes part of the community conversation and others post on it so for that reason members are not able to remove their own topics.
