What purpose does this item have? 

 

It keeps popping up in my available tasks in cities, but I have yet to see why I am collecting all these.

The Silk sheets are for the current temple.  If you are confused it is because the temple started as Conventions and then changed to collecting Silk Sheets a couple of days later.

Instead of creating a new topic, can anyone tell me where I can find the Finesse Missions? Cowgirl Christina is asking for them.

Those are skill missions.   You have Strength, Stamina, Finesse and Charisma.   You need to find the Finesse ones.  If you don't have any on your map, do a fight mission or other mission in 1 area until a Finesse mission shows up.
