I still have a few missiles with red minus symbols on them are they still okay to use?

 

A minus missile is better than no missile?

missiles have a number, bottom left. This is how many shots you have remaining. If you hover over missiles not equipped, you will see  a plus(green) or minus (red). green is stronger than your equipped missle, red is weaker

yes, weaker (minus) missles beats no missiles if you don't have any stronger ones in the shop to buy or the means to buy them...
