To a student of Greek Mythology, that's a classic...
Man- crawls on all fours as a baby, walks upright in mid-life, and uses a cane as support in old age...
funny, you don't look like a Sphinx...

Right answer of course but what's a Sphinx got to do with it?

THE SPHINX was a female monster with the body of a lion, the breast and head of a woman, eagle's wings and, according to some, a serpent-headed tail. She was sent by the gods to plague the town of Thebes as punishment for some ancient crime.
I know what a Sphinx is I'm just not sure what that has to do with the riddle. Oh well it's time for someone else to have a go.

The Sphinx asked a riddle...
your riddle, in fact...
if the victim could answer the riddle, they were safe; if they couldn't they were killed and devoured...
Theseus answered the riddle, then killed the Sphinx... thus ended the curse of the gods upon Thebes.

Sometimes dark and sometimes bright,
I make my way among twinkling lights.
Seas and oceans obey my call,
yet mountains I cannot move at all.
My face is marred and gray,
but I'm majestic anyway.
What am I ??

Try this one-
A man, who's father is an accountant, has a motorcycle accident and requires surgery...
The doctor scrubs, then on entering the operating room, sees who the patient is for the first time...
"I cannot operate on this patient, because he is my son.", the doctor says...
Why can the doctor not operate?
