The following changes were made today (2020-05-26):

New features
PvP Tournament
• From now on, a cross-server PvP Tournament will take place every week!
• Compete with movie stars from all over the world!
• Collect points participating in duels. In case of a draw, the amount of fights won decide.
• The best 3000 players receive experience points as reward.
• The first PvP Tournament starts directly with the update and runs until Wednesday 19:00 UTC
• The following PvP Tournaments will start every Wednesday 19:00 UTC and run until the following Wednesday 19:00 UTC.

 

General
• The best players in Conventions can now also win likes for the Streaming Feature.
• In your browser, you can now activate notifications which inform you about new private messages in conversations, started events and studio attacks/defences.

 

Maintenance
HTML5 Version
• Continuous text should now be displayed more clearly.
• It was possible that text, which was entered into private messages, was entered into the team chat instead. This issue has been fixed.
• Text could not be pasted. This issue has been fixed.

 

General
• It was possible, that the background in duels was not displayed correctly. This issue has been fixed.
• Several minor bugs have been fixed.

You cannot attack players from other servers. In order to beat them, you have to do more duels on your server than they do on their servers.

The overview is in the ranking list:

 

If you click them, you can see their profiles, but the major disappointment is the missing attack button:

There's a good reason behind not attacking cross server: You could attack yourself, wearing no gear for example. Meaning you could 'push' yourself.

The background in the replay should have been fixed, has this not taken effect?

Currently, the #1 player in PVP has done over 400 duels. No way to do that without spending A LOT of donuts to refill fights.

The background was never broken in the replay.

Well, except when we attack other players and the opponents have not selected that the fights take place in their rooms but in the bar. But that was not the replay. It was on own started attacks, in the bar then. Fight 2+3 happened on black background which indeed seem to be fixed now.

 

The matter in the replay is when getting attacked by other players. The toons still look all exactly same and wired except for worn clothes.

Very true, will bring it up in the meeting again tomorrow I really hoped they fixed something, but I guess nothing was broken to begin with haha.

I don't think one would do that. They 'push' their new toons but even more screw their stronger toons.

Limit to the respective own servers means it's not fair with the available opponents, even within the UK servers currently: 

UK1 has 180 players 

UK2 has 454 players

UK3 has 773 players

UK4 has 1328 players

 

When I started in 2018 UK2 had over 2500 players btw. just saying.

 

On the other hand the "reward" is rather a major detriment with huge XP. Top 150 rank is like three days playing for 0 notes and total mess up the PR. In long-term it causes much faster level up and rises the requirements to pass party missions and necessitates to upgrade the items much more frequent - and to refine them which can cost over 6000 diamonds if you want the exactly same epic refinements again on a full 9 items setup + washing to get the similar skill distribution again.

So the real winners are those who don't give a damn about this PVP tournament and even lower their effort on that to avoid XP.   

A better reward would be notes or SP...
