What determines whether a studio is too strong to attack another studio? Is it glory, team strength, or something else, or a combination?

This is not completely known, but I am pretty certain that it is based on glory.

We had a bug where a studio that had been inactive for a while got to zero glory. The boss started playing again, and found that they could not attack any other studio. Easiest way to explain that is that there is a percentage band, say 10% plus or minus. Since 110% of zero is still zero, and 90% of zero is still zero, a studio at zero glory would only be able to attack other studios also at zero glory. If there aren't any, no attacks are possible.

I don't know the actual percentages, or even if the percentages change based on the amount of glory a studio has. A little experimentation and record keeping should be able to verify my theory pretty quickly, I think, and also determine the width of the bands.

the same thing that determines if you get 0 glory for attacking a player that is significantly lower than you on the ranking level...ever notice how some jerks who are 100 levels above you are only gaining like 2 or 3 glory per win? look at the difference in glory, imagine your character as a "zero"...go to the ranking list...anyone you can beat above your glory level is a gain of +100 and some change...beat someone a few pegs below you and you get 97 or 98....if you (zero) is the benchmark, then you can kinda gauge how much glory you will receive for a win and how much you will lose for a loss...and it even tells you. if someone (or a studio) isn't showing up on your available list of choices to attack, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out why.  BBE does a very good job making us adhere to their standards.

what's the point in attacking a studio well beneath your current studios ability anyhow? unless you're just mad at someone and if that's the case, get used to it ;)

It's the ranking only in studio fights. There was a new studio formed in January 2019 on UK2, all of top players who started over. They easily could have beaten any top 10 studio (and eventually did so, once they climbed up in rankings high enough) but in their first few Months, they neither could attack the top studios nor could get attacked by them. They had to pick the highest possible victims of the minor studios down there for about 2.8k team honor per day and climb up step by step.

On the other hand there were some abandoned top 10 studios with only a few minor players left, all four average skills less 2k, Yet they still could get attacked by any studio above or close enough below and became very easy targets.

So it's actually a wrong message. Your studio is not too "strong", but too far above ranked. I'm not sure but the frame of studios available to attack is ~10 ranks above and below, total 20 (could be few more or less), not sure if the window gets farther below if your studio is in top 10.

In duels it's different. If do a lot of duels everyday and pass much stronger players who don't do much duels at all, you still get more glory for a win than you lose against them, although they are lower ranked in glory. There it's a combination of glory and skills.

For studios it's also based on the studio honour.

As perfect example, our int1 studio at the top, can't hit any studio outside top7, as their % of studio honour compared to ours, is too low.

To put in numbers: We have 112,000 honour, the #7 (which we can still hit) has 59,000 honour. But, the #8 has 51,000 only and we can't attack them anymore. Based on this, I'd say if a studio has less than 50%, you can no longer attack them.

As for duels, there is a difference always between how much one gets and how much one loses, we've put this to the test recently with some comparisons on uk2. Basically, there's a difference of 20% (give or take) between what you lose vs what the winner gains favouring the winner.

right i forgot you knew everything. but anyway, i guess i didn't explain it clearly enough for you. when i say "zero" i mean that's the even point. if you go up, you get 100 (in duel) or 1000 (in studio) if you go down, you get 99 or less or 900 in studio....how do you not understand this? if the amount of glory for either your toon or your studio exceeds whoever you're trying to attack or duel...it's not going to let you do it. they have to keep it fair somehow....and who really cares why anyway? fight in your own bracket...

"too strong" and "too far above in rank" is the same thing...

you should apply to work for BBE...you'd be good at support
