(I did raise a ticket, but support have refused to answer me adequately.  I did do a search, but nothing obvious popped up from the 111 results returned, so didn't bother reading them.)

First off, I have my basic skill points exactly equal, yet the cost for each skill is different. Which irritates me.

Can someone explain to me why the cost of skill points does not remain constant?

Yes, I accept the cost increases over time, but why do the cost increases vary so much?

And why do the relative costs change over time?  One day strength can be the most expensive, followed by finesse, charisma, then stamina, but on another stamina will be the most expensive, followed by finesse, strength then charisma.

All very well when you can see the cost, but when you have free points to spend, and haven't bought any that day with cash, you cannot tell which skill costs the most and therefore which is the most economical to spend them on.

Basically, why can't skill points cost the same and increase equally relative to each other?

Someone, please, explain this!

And pass on to the developers that it is not on!!  Either have skill points costing the same for each increments (yes, it can rise exponentially) or have a set ratio between the costs; i.e. have charisma and finesse costing more than strength and stamina, or vice versa!

Your skill point totals currently include all the gear you wear, plus any studio bonuses that are active... To get them all equal (each point costs the same) you'll have to buy some in the lower cost stats and leave the higher cost stats alone, until they equal out... Free skill points are exactly that - free... They do not affect the cost ratios before being added in..

can't view the attached screenshot, my anti-virus/malware doesn't like imgur

didn't answer my question, I have my base skills already equal.  unless studio & boost bonuses, plus those on gear affect the individual skill point cost.  if that is so, that is unfair

Free skills are free, but they add to your base skills.

Skills you buy also count as base skills and increase in cost, by a little for each skill point you buy. All four skills increase by the same amount. If you have bought the same number of skill points in two different skills, the costs for the next skill point will be identical.

If all your basic skills are the same number, but the costs are different, you have not applied your free skill points equally.

If you want to keep your basics the same, AND have the same skill point cost, you have to allocate your free skills exactly equally, as well.

If you find a bumsmack of re-education, you can reallocate all your free skills at one time. Otherwise, to equalize things out, always buy the cheapest skill... then allocate free skills to fill in the gaps.

Thank you CaptC, now why couldn't support have explain it like that?  (please edit this if I've fallen foul of some rule about criticizing support)

So it's the free points that have skewed everything!!  Yes, I've mainly tried to allocate them evenly but when I have a number that does not divide equally by 4, my mild OCD kicks in & I buy skills (hopefully the cheapest) to balance it out.

So I'll have to buy the cheapest ones to level them off in cost  .. hang on, that'll make things even worse!  I'll have to bear the unevenness until I can get that re-education thingy ... what do they look like?

Bumsmacks are pretty rare and somewhat pricey. I have seen them a few times, but I don't remember the details.

Don't be too hard on support. I had to read your post several times to work out what the issue was. I suspect I have more thinking time than they do, plus English is my native language.

I think you are misunderstanding my point about fixing it gradually. Buying the cheapest will NOT make things worse, it will equalize the number of skill points you have purchased, across each skill. Eventually all your skills will cost the same amount. At that point, I suggest ONLY buying in groups of four, one for each skill.

You need to balance your free skill allocation too. That means putting your free skills into the skill with the smallest number of basics, AFTER buying. It will eventually all balance out  At that point, consider allocating new skills only when you have groups of four.

Your OCD will annoy you until you get to perfect balance, but then you will be fine going forward.

(I don't personally want my basics to all be equal. For an alternate skill allocation scheme, see https://forum.us.big...ently/?p=3757 )

Bumsmacks of re-education are 299 diamonds, and appear quite rarely, they can rearrange your basic skill points only, so you need to do a little maths if you are trying to calculate something in particular, I have used them twice in the past.

Thanks for your help CaptC.

I wasn't as far off equalising the bought skill points as I thought.  After buying what was necessary (about 12 points total) I'm now at:

Strength:-   1536

Stamina:-   1531

Charisma:- 1534

Finesse:-    1536

All now cost 134,444 notes to upgrade

I'll allocate the free points to initially balance them out, then follow your idea and put them in the bottom two equally until the bottom 2 are 50% higher than the top 2.  I'll keep those ratios going forward.
