What's going on with BBE and facebook? Have no access to the game through Facebook any more??? Am I the only player with this issue?
I found out the answer to my question. have to re-new access through settings for BBE!

You'll have to go into settings, click apps, click on Expired, click edit Big Bang and reset your game settings.

have no options to log in with FB access, still need to use mail address/password

You'll have to go into settings, click apps, click on Expired, click edit Big Bang and reset your game settings.
BBE is not showing in "Expired". It's in "Active" and it's not loading.

There is a know problem. Development is aware and working on it... I have no timeframe for a fix, however. Be patient, Playata wants this fixed as badly as you do.

Doubt that he got any after almost six months. 
This topic was about a different issue back in May so the solution then likely won't help this time.
