I still enjoy doing the films as much as anything in the game. Being someone that plays 4 stars on different servers, I may not get much empathy for this, but I think some may agree anyway, so...

The longer shoots are getting to be a bit much!

How about adding a setting (not a wish, but a setting that actually behaves as you set it every time) to specify things like max length of film shoots offered. Also minimum length for people not as tired and burnt as me. maybe 'always include a shoot with specific reward (points, diamonds, gear)

I'm really not interested in replies of. 'You can change it by spending diamonds, blah blah'. If I pay diamonds I should be able to specify exactly what I get, not random things that could be the same thing again.

If something like this was implemented, my guess would be that it will cost diamonds to set or change this preference.  Would you be willing to pay a one-time "setup fee"?

(...and as an aside, I would suggest dropping a star or two is more likely to help with burnout problems. I am of an age that I can consider retiring... and I may have to, just to continue to keep up with two avatars.  LOL)

Nope nope nope. The constant diamond grab for literally every aspect of this game has gotten way out of control and utterly stupid.. I fear I'm not long for it, actually

Its true that the more powerful aspects of game play have a diamond cost associated with them.

But thats how it should be don't you think?

A balance is maintained for those who don't contribute financially to the development or upkeep of the game, to the point that its quite feasible to have a non-diamond based character be competitive in the game.

But also noteworthy is the fact that the game play itself provides a constant supply of diamonds to players who don't buy them.

So maybe stop seeing it as a constant diamond grab, and more of a constant way to ensure that when you do put money into the game, you get your moneys worth!

If I may interpret Eileen's comment, I don't think she agrees with you, BigBadWolf. (lol)

I don't either, really.

There is a balance necessary in these games. Although free players may not donate financially, you do need them. They provide the pool of players that money players often grow from. That was me, for example. I started out as a completely free player, but now I have to budget my gaming carefully to make room for BBE needs.  :)

They also provide the bulk of most studios. My studios spend money... but roughly half of our players are free.

So, game developers DO need to include features to keep free players engaged and happy, if the game is to be healthy. Other than some new free patterns, or old patterns with new colors, it is difficult to see anything free players have gotten lately. Every new feature has a diamond cost attached.

I think Eileen's comment is indicative. Might be time for Playata to toss a bone.

I don't see it as a power up when i'm taking the shortest option and  sometimes giving up skill points on 3 of the 4 servers if I have to. Trying to maintain the minimum for BBA exposure max with time getting more and more limited and RL issues  going on. I think most serious players would argue why do I want short ones at all since there's so much to be gained from longer shoots. But people have lives. You don't always have the time. Optimally, it would be great if it dispersed a long, a short and something in between for 1st choice each time. There are still those who would roll again and again for various reasons, looking for the perfect shoot. I've spoke to some. My inability to buy a lot of diamonds isn't cutting down the income. It's always been my situation and those other people are still there spending.

The amount of extra notes through longer films is actually pretty neglectable.

So what you're left with is the icky sideproduct of xp.

Getting less xp while wasting less time on films? I'm all for.

Now that my char has been deleted...

I finally am just as relevant to UK2 as Maalena always has been.

would also be great if they were retooled so that a 30 minute shoot could actually be completed by doing all skill tasks with the 30 energy you have at the start. Instant finish! They could even add a button for that, lol. Numerically, it should be possible if it came up with the right length task on the last one and you win them all. I've never seen it happen though. :S

I pick points, if that's an option. any notes and xp is bonus. Now and then I may take one for a pattern, but that's gotten few and far between. I don't chase set items anymore like I used to, but that's one thing I've seen that people who spend on refreshes will spend towards. That and the big 7 point shoots (more in some special events)

My best advice, for both life and for making movies, is "always choose the long one."

But that advice comes from the days before movie trophies. Nowadays, I prioritize making all your movies. The movie rewards (especially skills) tremendously outweigh the actual mission rewards.  If you do three long movies and don't have time for the fourth, your results are likely sub-optimal. Do four short movies instead.

It would be nice if the item rewards showed if they were pieces from a missing collection with films - theres no way to determine if you need the item or not short of looking up your collections and I for one don't have the time for that.

Don't get me wrong - I think free players are critical to the game and definitely need to be given enough things to make the game playable and fun. And your right - it hasn't happened for a while that free players get anything free...

A "finish all" for films button for notes would be nice...

that way you can just design the covers at the end :)
