I was thinking that it would be awesome to be able to apply a different item with the refinement of another item. I spend so many diamonds trying to get a good refinement and then later on will receive a higher point item that I can't for the life of me get a good refinement for.

You could get one free move a day, make it cost diamonds for any more moves... Or even if it was only allowed for the same kind of item. I don't know.... was just wishful thinking out loud lol

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's had this idea. I'd love for the ability to transfer refinements between items. I hate spending diamonds to refine gear, so this would be perfect for someone like me. The way I would implement it would be something like this:

You have an item with the refinement you want to transfer the refinement from and an item you want to transfer the refinement to. After the process is done, your new item has the refinement from the old item and the old item is destroyed in the process as a trade off.

I wouldn't mind spending diamonds even for this, and I reckon such a mechanic would need to, since refinements are one of the biggest diamond spending things out there. Of course, the only problem I foresee with this is that every player then would have the best refinements, which starts to negate/lessen the effect of them if everyone has them, but that still doesn't mean I don't like this idea :)

That's the problem I thought about to, everyone having the best refinements. I couldn't figure a way around it.

I guess one potential way around the problem would be to have this system be a once/twice per day use, which no amount of diamonds can change. This will at least slow down the progress of getting those refinements somewhat. It's not a great solution, but it's something. Would also be interested to hear what others think.

As a game player that also uses a lot of diamonds in search of the "perfect refinement", (and even then I spend too much and have to settle for 'less-than-perfect'), I really don't like this idea.  And I'm not sure why, because while I think it would be really cool to have the best refinements all the time for a lot less cost, I also think some things about this game have a certain charm (or frustration as it were), when you FINALLY luck into 100% Smelling Salts (after ONLY 5 tries), or whatever be your perfect refinement set to your budget.

For me, it actually changes the dynamic of the game as to whether I'm going to replace an item because quite often, the right refinement will go much further than even a skill upgrade of x-amount of points with a lesser refinement.  It makes me value the perfect refinement all the more.

If I had a suggestion to offer for having the best refinements for less cost, the only thing I might suggest is to find a way to lower the overall cost of rolling (or re-rolling) for refinements.  But what is the vehicle (mission or task) that rewards this ability?  Maybe to have a 'free refinement bank' build up (kind of like the replacement batteries), where it maxes out at 4, and you earn them for x-amount of consecutive days of logging in. That's not to say the bank builds up once per day, but rather how diamonds, notes, and other things are rewarded at the start of your gameday on a 'scheduled rotating' basis.

Eh'?  (smug)

I like the bank idea, like batteries.. that would make me feel a lot better about how many diamonds I throw at Misty lol

I have suggested in a couple of places that there be awards of "guaranteed epic refinement".  They should be hard to get, maybe for like doing those 1000 mission accomplishments, so that they don't completely swamp game balance. I envision them as, you apply the reward to a particular piece of gear, and you get a choice of three random epic enhancements, no re-roll possible.
