Am I being paranoid or is UK1 dying off?

It's the only server that I'm on and I'd hate to see it go.

I spent some time on UK2 and Nutaku US1 but it was a bit too hectic being on three servers.

I'm happy with UK1 but I've heard that it's the quietest in regards to traffic/players.

I've spent money in UK1 and I'm very happy there.

Comments and ideas?

Thank you.

I don't play on UK1 anymore so I would not know. I do have a member in my team who spies on UK1 for me to make comparisons for the temple challenges and it looks like there is at least less studios showing up on the temple challenges but that doesn't necessarily mean it is dead. I do think that by default people are sent to UK2 when they are choosing a server from the UK. A lot of people are probably going to the US servers as well. I personally will not dedicate time to the US servers since they are not compatible with the phone app and that is what I use to mainly play. Since it is easier to start on one of the newer servers people are generally going to wind up joining one of those. UK2 is slightly over a year old now so probably this time next year it will start losing activity especially if they create a UK3 server.

Hope this helps :)

As long as the servers are making money, they won't delete them. Unless people stop playing this game altogether I doubt they will ever delete any, especially with some of the other country based servers with 3 or 4 servers. They'll more likely add another server than delete any.

I hope it won't be deleted, it's the only server I'm on  :( I don't really know what it's like on other servers, but UK1 hasn't ever really seemed "dead" to me - maybe the others are more active, but there seem to be plenty of players still engaged in things like making movies and contributing to the Temple challenges for their studios, so they're not just abandoned and inactive.

Yeah, it's my only server too.

It will not be deleted unless the entire game is shut down meaning all servers and I do not see that happening. ;)

UK1 is the quietest server I play on... because it is the most boring. The top of the challenge board has been completely static for months.

Don't get me wrong - I congratulate the studios that can dominate the board the way they do. It took effort and skill to get there. But the game promotes snowball effects, such that those studios will just continue to increase their dominance. Not much fun for anyone else... and there are plenty of other servers, and for that matter, other games.

Capt C, I understand your point, and actually agree with it to some extent.  But I think the issue is not that the server is dead, but that there are a relatively small number of players who spend large money on diamonds.  That is what lets the top two studios (actually three if you include yours which has been spending pretty freely recently) stretch their lead over everyone else.

I know we have a studio currently where typically we are getting 25+ people signing up for fights every day (and not always the same 25).  Several times we have had no one more than 36 hours "stale".  But a lot of our players do not have enough money in real life to spend it on diamonds, so we know we will never be in the top 3 or so any more (we used to be).

The other issue that I do not think is "deadness", is a distinct lack of cooperation between studios to take down the top couple.  It can be done, but it is requires dedication & trust between studios.  I have found too many players and studios on here who do not really understand "trust".  We entered a few agreements to take down the top guys a year or so ago, and every one of the agreements feel apart because one of the studios--or sometimes just a couple players--sold out the rest.

We are actually quite proud that we have been in the top 10 for about 20 months now with no big diamond spenders, and only about three moderate ones.  Our biggest contributors has been gone over a year if I recall right.

It all comes down to defining what you mean by "a successful studio", and getting a plan to get there.

1) I do not begrudge the developers for making money. If they do not build in advantages for paying players and studios, they are not doing their job.

2) Abusement Park has three or four generous diamond donors. The vast majority of our studio is free players. We are proud of our achievements, too - but we are realistic about what can be done with, and without, diamonds. Doubles and cakes are not unethical... they are just expensive.

3) Do get me wrong, I don't begrudge Hardcore or Striped Pantsu the fact that they have collected a group of good high level players. I DO begrudge that the game design means no one else will ever be able to catch them, because being able to sit on a full suite of energy trophies sets up a positive, runaway feedback effect. It's simply bad game design to allow such an effect. Full stop.

4) I never even said UK1 is dead. Nor did I ever say, anywhere, that being first on the challenge board is the only way to define a successful studio. I said the situation on UK1 is BORING, and i think that a fair criticism.  I think it is simply crazy to say that everyone should find other reasons to enjoy the game, and to ignore the built-in score-keeping mechanism.

5) Cooperation is doomed by the first studio to backstab others, and thereby take a commanding advantage. That in turn means they can set up there own positive feedback loop. For that reason, I again state that the ability to MAKE a positive feedback loop is the real problem.
