If I took the time to look at studio memberships to avoid hitting a teammate of a friend I would never get to duel. ;)

It's common sense that you do not duel with someone who is on your friends list but what if you come across a player who is a member of one of your friends studios?

 

It has happened to me and if I see the studio name I usually skip that person.

it's survival of the fittest... if you can beat them, it's incentive for them to get better until you can't anymore...
