Do the objects that are added to your items when you use the refining machine really make much of a difference? I have items that are the same e.g. Necklace -that may have a refining item and the same Necklace with no refining item but it's higher in charisma or energy etc. How does that work?

Every refinement is better than no refinement at all... Especially if they give you a special ability (eg. double attack, first attack, stun etc) xD Of course, when you have an item which is +something, it is recommendable to use it and wait for the next free refinement.

Don't worry if you can't keep your refined items for very long, it is mostly because you are still not that high level. After you reach lvl100, the things will get harder: + items are harder to find and you don't have to change your (refined)items very often.
