Maybe it is because I am old....

When you bought a game back in the day....

It came in a box :)

and inside that box was a manual

And that manual told you how to play the game and how it worked

and it was good.

Then over time game developers lost the manual you could flip through and leave lying about

on your desk with notes scribbled on it, because the clever people invented files so they included it on the games install - usually as a PDF document or as a windows help file.

And now apparently they just don't bother making one at all...

Progress?

The game itself doesn't have a manual. Apparently Playata didin't bother, too. There is some sort of manual written by the players on the German Board, however. It's far away from solving every problem, but it's a start. So, if you are capabale of reading German and understanding it, too, you might visit the German Board to read it.

Of course, you can start to write your own English version of a manual on this board...

As far as I know, there isn't one written down (in English), but you do go through a tutorial of sorts when you first make your character...

Well.... I posted some game tips. It can be used as a manual...? (grin)

We could start a wikia page for Big Bang Empire tho, as a manual, but feel free to post over there if you got any tips n tricks for the game.  :)

One of the games that use it is Dead Frontier. There's even a tab in-game for the wiki. Don't see why the devs wouldn't want it if the goal is to have players.

Hi. I'm new here, but have been reading anonymously for a while.

I have seen a BBE wikia out there that has a few pages. I would like to add to it, and as suggested here and other posts, would like to gather the tips, advice and suggestions here, and put them on the wikia. Can I post a link to the wikia? Or you can find it as the only BBE wikia out there.

I have looked at the forum rules and BBE TOS, and not sure about a few things.

Do I need to ask permission to put screenshots of the game in forum posts, or for screenshots / images for the wikia? That is screenshots or images of locations, menu screens, icons and pop-ups etc. for use as guides and walkthroughs.

Can I get permission to copy text from posts to put into guides, or for tips and suggestions information in the wikia? Do I go to each post and ask permission from the person who posted the text I would like to copy?

Thanks for reading my first post.

Welcome to the forums. I suspect most of what is on the forums is going to be public use.  Most wikia authors that I know are kind about giving credit to the original poster.

I do not know the answers about permissions, but I will ask.

There is no instruction manual. Part of the joy is figuring out how things work.  :)

Hi :)

I'm 52, I remember. It wasn't all peaches and cream though. Sometimes they printed the rules on the bottom of the box, or on the inside of it. What good is that? Everyone knows that's where you keep all the parts of the game you aren't using. So, we ended up with rules like putting money from community chest on free parking and other nonsense things that no one knew where they came from.

This game isn't bad though. You fight (or are we fucking?), you make movies. You buy diamonds if you want stuff right now. Getting the most out of your attributes is trickier. I'm no expert so I won't get started on that.

Welcome and good luck!

Well, if we are fucking, I am going to stop dueling quite a few of the guys on my glory donor list.  YMMV

LOL

Hehe Well, the Dickstarter duel task is called fight fuck, so that kind of raises the question. There are also some missions that describe their objective as something that may be a sexual act. But the fights seem to be used as a metaphor for a lot of things according to mission descriptions.

Far from the first time I have heard that suggestion. But then that means in the fight missions, we are being awfully promiscuous with a lot of rather undesirable partners.  LOL

Back to the wikia:  Go for it BaritoBoy.  General consensus is that well done wikis attract customers to a game, and bad ones have the opposite effect.  Feel free to make a good wiki.  :)

Back to instruction manuals for games: I own a game store, specializing in miniature war games like Warhammer and Warmachine. These games DO have instruction manuals - thousands and thousands of pages, sometimes. We often have to take new players, born in this age of video games, and explain to them that miniatures is NOT a video game.

"There aren't any instructional tutorials, stop expecting your opponent to explain every rule to you, and read the rulebook!"

Hi. I had started putting some stuff up on a wikia, but have heard that TaraBing from the US forum sees lots of ads there, and wondered about having information pages in the forum instead (or as well).

So I was thinking about copying the text I wrote so far and putting them on pages here, and if they are useful enough they could be pinned. Another idea would be to have one page that I could add to, linking to the other pages of information whenever I finish posting them.

Anyway, I thought I should ask first, if it's okay to post text if I wrote it for the wiki elsewhere.

It is ok, nicelee.  But, I think it would be better if you could find a less ad-intensive wikia engine.  Duplicating posts between both of the English language forums strikes me as a nightmare.

You are right. I had thought to add to an existing wikia instead of creating a new one because it was already there and I had ads blocked so didn't notice the ads. Good point on duplicating posts, I will just post here.
