I was looking through the forum and I think this topic just became very relevant again.

If I remember fairly correct, then in the last 10 - 12 weeks we've had conventions 4 times! Whatever happened to the rotation of the different temple events.

As if I'm not enough online, these temples are taking away way to much of my time and well I have a job I have to do and other things that has to be done also. So the convention temples are really taking its toll on my enjoyment of the game.

Wow, are you kidding me - ANOTHER Convention temple ???

Our Studio Boss reflected the view of our entire studio and, I suspect the server, We just got studio mail.

 

Summary,

Thats it I've had enough of this, no player is required to do temple this week, I wont be either.

No one can be expected to have the time it takes to compete in this temple over the week of Christmas

Convention temples are the worst, most hated temple (except by greedy diamond sellers) of them all so keep bringing them back quicker and quicker.   Didn't think it could possibly be any worse but someone had the "great" idea, hey, lets have a convention temple during XMAS week when everyone is stressed out, short of time, and has many family obligations.   Well done, here's a giant lump of coal for your stocking.

I wrote a series of tips in mid-2016 for both my studios, about how to do Temples. I remind both studios about the policy each time a convention temple rolls in. I haven't needed to change a word, but my actual studio message is quite profane, so I will censor approprately for here:

 

"Convention Temple - You get points for every show in conventions. This one <expletive deleted>. Do whatever you want, we will not seriously compete for this <long string of expletives deleted>. ("Hey, don’t hold back, tell us how you really feel, Cap!”) If you want to buy good convention results, feel free to do so for your own purposes - but DON’T do it for temple standing. We don’t EVER ask players to spend diamonds on conventions."

 

If there are any conventions over an hour in this Christmas Temple, I am considering instructing my studios to boycott that convention. I probably don't have to... Ain't nobody got time for 2 hour conventions during Christmas week.

My favorite part of the Convention temples is finding out who the winner was at the end and punching them in a duel... Win or lose, these are my least favorite temples

Perhaps if everyone boycotted the conventions, the devs would get the hint.

I agree. I'd rather spend my money this week on Christmas presents for family and friends, than spend it on the game. I realize that Playata needs to make money, but this is not the week to do it.

My concern with the changes to parties recently is that it suggests a trend of converting all of the temple missions into ones that can be influenced in their result through the use of diamonds. I really dislike that the result of a temple can be influenced purely by your capacity for bank account expenditure. Its there in conventions - and people don't like them - and now its there in parties too - and people don't like them - I guess my question is will the trend continue? whats next a change to buy SP with diamonds too?

 

I agree that Convention Temples can be influenced by the use of diamonds, but how can Party Temples be influenced by the use of diamonds? Only one party is allowed per day.

I think BigBadWolf was talking about the new ability to buy a party ticket.  The other use of diamonds in a Party Temple is to make sure you get all the missions done after finding/buying a ticket.

Why would someone buy a party ticket when you get one once a day?!? smh

Time limited money players exist. They don't run up their mission counter enough to be guaranteed they will get a party ticket each day. Such players can buy a ticket now.  Even I have certain days (Mondays and Tuesdays, mostly) where work requirements mean I struggle to run enough missions to guarantee a ticket. I will admit that in the last party temple, I actually bought one.

 

But I digress, let's keep this about convention temples.

I fear that the spree of convention temples is in response to players complaining about the first one. In particular, about how there were no conventions during the convention temple, making it hard to participate in. 

I'm glad that the developers have listened to us in letting us know when conventions will take place during this temple and actually having conventions during a convention temple, but we don't need a convention temple for EVERY SINGLE holiday event in the game, which is when they seem to take place. That means we get one roughly every 4 weeks, which is far too regular.

I'd love to see a skill point buying temple or a selling items temple, even an item collecting temple, just something that isn't conventions.

Well, regardless of the claim that tickets are 'bigly' more frequent now, It's still quite possible to go all day and not see any. I've had it happen a few times since the change. My star on US2 is still looking for todays to finish a task and is on her last energy refill). Since parties can now be bought without a ticket, a person can just use diamonds to do it. Plus, as ever, if you wanted and had enough diamonds, you could just instant finish every mission in the party and probably be done in under 5 minutes.

If I can bribe them, why not let me just kick their butt to get in?, or at least try once an hour?

Temples work through competition.

Between the members within your own studio ànd against other studios.

We briefly discussed a boycott of this umpteenth convention temple yesterday.

 

The thing is that we've all seen before how one individual can just go and claim a conv.

So there's no use in trying to get every studio on one line. Just check the current results.

There's always someone who goes "hey… I can win this crap!" when no-one else goes for it.

And then there's always someone who follows that one and so on and so on.

 

We can all only be responsible for our own actions.

And quietly throw up in a corner every time a new convention comes up.

I agree that the conventions temple is getting old....it kinda feels like we have it every other week. It's getting really exhausting with them usually being two hours long and now with it being right around Christmas.....I don't see myself being able to participate much. Give us variety!!!!
