Question about party tickets. 

How many fans do you need to make a new party ticket pop after the last one you used?

 

I didn't realize this was a thing until last night. Most of us know you need fans to open the parties.  2 days ago, I did a party. It had been a couple days since the last one I did before that. The ticket (this last one I used)was up on the board almost immediately. The one before, I had been holding onto for several days because convention theme temple and film theme temple took up too much time to work in a party..In film week, I did almost all very long films, so I had to have collected a lot of fans.
 

Currently level 108 with 2.0m fans and parties open up to Whiplash. Not a ticket to be seen. When I hover over the ticket icon which right now has an x on it, it displays a message that I must gain more fans before I will be able to find a ticket.

 

So, how many? Anyone know? This is the 1st time I've run into this since I unlocked Bernie on the first star I played. I would like to understand exactly how this works. will I do several more films and unlock only one ticket and then need half a mil more fans until the next. Or maybe I need to grind quite a ways and that unlocks a number of them for that amount of fans?

Or maybe the tooltip is incorrect and it is something else affecting it? Is there a limit to how many you can do in a certain amount of time maybe? Another thought is that I am in limbo until 110 since I beat Dick Ryder at 101 (very early. he's level 130) and another career boss and area will open at 110. So, maybe I am locked out of parties for doing good? O.o

I am willing to be told otherwise, but as far as I can tell, there are only two rules to how tickets appear:

 

1) You can't get a second one while you hold one.

2) Tickets appear completely at random.

 

So if you want to find tickets, you want to run as many missions as you can, to give you the most chances for a ticket to appear. Short missions, and lots of them.

 

I have gone 30 minutes, and 3 days, between tickets.  Sometimes I get none, but on one memorable day I got three. YMMV.

Oh, my bad. You are talking about the number of fans needed to get into the party itself?  Each level of each party has a different required number of fans to get in for free.

Flaming Wheels: [400K] - [800K] - [1.6M]

Whiplash:           [1.2M] - [2.4M] - [4.8M]

I don't know what the text is trying to tell you about the number of fans. I have never noticed any correlation between #fans and frequency of party tickets. Doesn't mean there isn't one.

 

The reason you are getting that message, is that the red X in the upper right indicates that you don't have a party ticket, so you can't run any party.

The pop-up window in the pic above is activated by clicking the ticket with red X, not by hovering as I said by mistake. You can also see by the pic that whiplash is already open and the others would be also, though hidden by the window. So, I don't know. Maybe it's just the default thing which is more applicable when a person 1st unlocks a party than it would be after they've done several. But it sure does make it sound like I need more fans before one will show up.
