I don't like them very much because they don't appear often enough & there is no way to know when the next one arrives. When they do show up, the time limit is extremely short. Adding a schedule for conventions so players can know when the next one will begin & extending the time limit would be changes I'd suggest to make them better.

While I do agree that a schedule would be very helpful (I don't know how many times I've heard studio members complaining that they're never online for conventions), I feel that extending the time limit on conventions is unnecessary, even more so if the schedule idea is implemented, since it already takes enough time to get through all my energy every day as it is  :D

My problem is that conventions all appear in the middle of my night.  Being in western Canada, I am very lucky to see one convention every couple of weeks.  Seems they are more "daytime" European accommodated.

The lack of consolation prizes for not being able to complete 40 missions in 40 minutes is pretty annoying.

I am not a fan of conventions. Their rewards are bad.  A tiny bit of experience in failed conventions, is a complete and utter waste of time. If I have the slightest doubt a convention will succeed, I do other things.

Even if the convention succeeds, you get equipment and energy.  It might be nice equipment, but in two or three more levels you will be finding better. And the energy rewards are minimal, compared to the time you have to sink.

I am afraid I care about normal conventions only if I am done with my normal farming, and I have some kind of expectation of being able to use the energy gained. That is very rare.

That leaves conventions for achievements, and for temple. I have expressed my opinion on that elsewhere, and will recap my statements only to this point: Conventions must be frequent (multiple times per day) and accessible (in tellville) if they are going to be required for any other reason.

I think conventions need to give rewards that make them attractive, without unbalancing the game. Energy rewards regardless of the success of the convention is an idea that comes to mind.

I have a few more suggestions for possible convention rewards.  I am trying to avoid duplicating what the casino does... I do not want to decrease the excitement when the casino shows up. On the other hand, conventions are expecting people to click on the screen every few minutes for an hour or more. Players deserve a reward just for the effort.

Given that conventions are currently rather rare, I think I have scaled my suggestions appropriately. However, if conventions get a lot more common, these might need to be scaled back.

I think the rewards on this first list should be given even if the convention fails. Most of these would be appropriate for a 'given once per convention if you do a certain number of shows', or maybe 'one of these for every x shows done in a convention, limit y per customer'.

  • Free refines or free retries for refinements (if you want to attract high level players, I suggest this one)
  • Free Washing Machine Spins
  • Free whipstitches
  • Give the current random piece of gear, which is scaled to number of shows completed, even if the convention fails.

'Winning Show' is currently pretty useless. It rewards nothing extra as far as I can tell. Some kind of minor 'lottery ticket' win will likely attract people to try right at the end of the convention. I think the following are handsome prizes, but will not be particularly unbalancing:

  • One free party ticket (will get a lot of attention during the current temple)
  • One free epic refinement. Winner picks a piece of gear, which receives a random epic refinement. (Will attract high level players.)

'Most Shows' should also get some kind of prize, regardless of the success of the temple. That player likely just spent a lot of diamonds, and is feeling really gypped if the convention failed. A consolation prize of a free refinement sounds about right to me. If you really want to spur people to spend diamonds, however, reward a free epic refinement for most shows. That fits nicely - on a successful convention, you just got a really nice piece of gear and are sure to get a good refinement for it. And on a failed convention - you still get a nice refinement for your investment.
