I've been noticing a lot of the same names at the top of the list. I want to know how do I get to the top also? I make as many as the 3 star movies as I can ( as much as RL will allow) and I try to make the cover as visually appealing as possible, but most of the time it doesn't work. What am I missing?

Sometimes I wonder if it's a popularity contest and someone out there doesn't like me.  :S

My personal opinion Mynx is that it can be somewhat of a popularity contest, but not always. Do your studio members all agree to always vote for one another? That will help. Another thing that seems important is clothing. If I have a film come up that might be worth sending to the awards I take more care to make changes to it. I will use notes and sometimes diamonds to improve it. But more important, I change my clothes to match the title. I store some clothes and accessories with themes like cowboy or doctor for example. I briefly change those items to change the look of the cover. I also never cover up important body parts or faces with the title. I hope you find that helpful!! Happy Gaming!

Hey Mynxie!  (nice to see you here too)

YOUR BIG BANG AWARDS (BBA) END GOAL RESULTS

Some questions to ask...

  • What is the highest finish you have had in the BBA so far?
  • What is your end goal? Finish in the TOP 10, win it all?

Some requirements for success...

  • I think it starts with a good visual image, and there are some theories on what makes a good image,

    But you also need...
  • A little luck to beat out some of the larger studio players who seem to win the title of "Superstar" a lot.

That is not to say a smaller studio player cannot win it all...

I actually won it all once (it was a nice looking cover)... got 181 votes!

TAQITzZl.png

Tried a similar entry 4 weeks later, and it didn't get half the votes (79 votes)...

Lfa2Fjel.png

So... obviously other factors are at hand besides nice image.

UH OH, HERE COMES THE CONSPIRACY THEORIST PART

But here's the weird part, I honestly believe the studios with the most active players (not necessarily the upper ranked studios, but it tends to be) have a slight advantage on that final Sunday. The final Sunday only presents what looks to be the TOP 100 vote-capturing films regardless of how many movies you made in the previous week.

It's kind of like playing in the PGA/LPGA (Golf Tournaments)... if you don't make the cut in the early rounds, you won't be around to play in the finals.

The BBA system progressively removes lower ranking films from contention as the week goes on.  Because the final Sunday only presents the TOP 100 films, if a studio conducts nothing but VOTING missions on that day, it has a good chance (based on their volume of votes) to quasi-manipulate the final standings either by "up voting" one of their own studio member's films (should it show up, at roughly 1 in 50 chance for one film, or 1 in 25 chance if they have two in the TOP 100, and of course those chances increase if there are even more, etc)... OR by "down voting" (by not voting for) an opposing studio player's film that is ahead of theirs.

Does this really happen you ask?

I have no proof for certain that this really happens as it requires studio members to act in unison to keep track of the leader board, but if you forced me to bet, I would slap my money on "hell yes this is practiced".  But so what - even if it is happening, it is still possible to win it all.  Someone HAS TO win it all.  There are 52 of these "Superstar" titles handed out every year, so WHY NOT YOU??   (grin)

NOTE: Some lucky players have won the title more than once; to that I say - good on you.  (smug)

FINAL THOUGHTS

Just make a striking visual image, (spend a few diamonds if you need to), add a catchy title (it is optional and likely doesn't sway the opinion of most voters, ~ but if you do, it will cost you 19 diamonds if you have them), and hope for the best.

It's survival of the fittest, and strength in numbers.

Film on,

-TB (flower)

.

PS: PRO TIP - One thing that might help is to get your studio mates to do a "pre-vote" on which one (or two) of the best films you made for the week should be submitted to BBA.  It will confirm your suspicions on what you should submit.  Do it on a Saturday or early Sunday on a regular basis.

Thank you Tara and Gigi! It might be a long while before I can at least get to the top 40, but I'm gonna try. Is there a way I can find the votes for past movies?

Tara ... I have had some of my own thoughts about the voting system ... you put some of my thoughts into words!! Thank you for such a well worded and thought-out helpful reply. Hopefully more players can read this.

Thanks Gigi,

And Mynx, there is no publicly visible historical data kept on your BBA rankings / finishes for past performances (that I know of).

I smell a worthwhile suggestion!  (grin)

Hey Mods, I'd like to suggest a request to have a PERSONAL HISTORICAL BBA PAGE similar to the HISTORY on STUDIO DUELS.

  1. It could be accessed by clicking a small icon on the film shoot page.  Imagine this icon looks like a smaller modified version of the "Film Shoot" CAMERA ICON (and imagine in the lower right corner of this camera icon is an overlay of a smaller CALENDAR PAGE icon to indicate history over time).  Place this icon just left of the "Your Successes" icon and label it Film Shoot History when the mouse hovers over it.

  2. Clicking it brings up a scroll-able pop-up table similar to Studio Duels history, only it contains info like this:

FILM SHOOT HISTORY

 Release                                           Final /   Votes      E A R N E D   R E W A R D
Date      Film Title                              Max Rank  Rcvd   Skill Pts : Experience : Diamonds
 ========  ======================================  ========  =====  ========= : ========== : ========
 12/24/16  Frivolous Fun - Mmmm, Delicious         671/1196     6       0     :       0    :     0
 12/15/16  Kinky Massages - No Mercy               993/1201     2       0     :       0    :     0
 12/09/16  Oh, Holy Night                           22/1195   139       2     :    1000    :     5
 12/04/16  Luscious Nature Lovers - Do Everything    7/1172   164      10     :    2000    :    25
 11/22/16  Mommies Sleep Over - Ultimate Party      20/1201    94       2     :    1000    :     5

  • Color code the lines by winning ranks.
  • Show a special star icon on any line that finished #1.
  • Have a scroll bar on the right, and let the majority of columns be sort-able...
  • OR show the last 30 submissions and list the submissions backwards chronologically.
  • For an even cooler presentation, make each line clickable (for example click on the 12/09/16 entry) and it brings up an image similar to the final showing...

yGtiqfil.png

How cool would this be?  Then we could study our previous entries and maybe find a trend of what voters liked.

First and foremost GREAT question MYNX, I've pondered the same questions.

TARABING, that write up es EXCELLENT. Informative and eloquently written, Thank you for that!  As for the suggestion, that is a welcomed feature... I'm loving the layout proposed.

So anyways... I've been searching for some useful info regarding the film making/voting process on the US forum and didn't come across much that addressed my question(s).  When I came across this thread it seemed closely related so instead of starting a new thread maybe some1 can answer me in passing. Again, please excuse me, I'm in no way trying to hijack another members thread but I didn't think it warranted an entirely new topic.

Now to my question... TARABING, you mentioned having studio members collectively vote for their fellow studio mates films and/or against opposing studio members films. I've read about this strategy elsewhere as well but whenever I complete a mission that yields a ballot, I don't see any information regarding the "actor" who created the film or even the studio that the film came from. The mouse-over only displays the film title. Is there something I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Hi Jokerz, you can post here... and you are not hijacking as this is still on topic...

So you are correct in not knowing the name of the player that created the film cover, however, there is a "label" above any film that says something paraphrased with the following: this film was produced by your studio when the film cover was indeed created by a member from your studio.  It's not the most obvious label, as it is just written in plain text, but it is clearly visible.

A studio member will get a 1 in 50 shot with each ballot on the final day of voting (as only the TOP 100 most-voted-for-film covers are presented during last day of voting) of seeing a cover from their studio (provided their studio has an entry in the TOP 100).

There is some discussion that some studio members pay diamonds to recycle the presented selections until one of their films comes up, but that sounds like a semi-expensive proposition to manipulate the voting process.  Each refresh will cost 5 diamonds, so you can play with those odds - the studio with the most films in the TOP 100 stand to gain the most from this process.  When a studio has 10 movies in the TOP 100 (and it has happened), their odds increases to 10 in 50 chances (or 1 in 5) where 25 diamonds on average gets them a chance to "keep their vote" in the studio.  One vote can go a long way on final ballot day where the winning entry will have under 200 votes total for the week.

Nobody has come out and admitted as such, but if you have more diamonds than you know what do do with, then - you might ask, why not?  (smug)

It makes a lot of sense that studio members use diamonds to cycle through, but why is it always the same people at the top? That's what I want to know.

Hi there, fellow pornstars. I was lucky enough to win last week's BBAs on UK2 :) and want to encourage everyone that it is possible to succeed even if you're a new player (I play only for 2 months) outside of the top studios.

We don't have any pact in our studio to support each other in the voting. In fact, I've never even talked with most of my teammates, who are not very chatty (that's not a complaint). As a whole, we aren't a super active studio, where everyone plays everyday, spends all the energy, shoots the maximum amounts of movies, buys diamonds etc. Only a handful of our members do that. I myself don't have the diamonds to influence the result of the voting and don't even see the purpose of that. I would have to spend way more diamonds than I would have gotten in reward and if I accomplished anything by doing so, the result would be fake. In my opinion, the point and fun of the BBAs is to have a fair contest where people vote for what they really like and everyone has a chance to be successful. If you want to spend crazy amounts of diamonds in order to achieve something, you have the conventions to do so...

As for the question of have to become a winner... Most of the advices that can turn the luck more in your favor were already mentioned here. Make the maximum amount of movies to be able to get more votes, match your clothes with the title or even make up your own fitting/interesting/funny title or overall theme, invest diamonds if you have some good idea for how an appealing cover should look like... Try to match the colors of various individual elements (wardrobe, background, border) in a visually pleasing way. Never let the title to be placed over the faces of the actors (I almost never vote for such covers - only when I don't have another option). And most importantly, make your star and cover as a whole as sexy and hot as possible. Put on alluring clothes which generally means the ones that make your boobs big and visible and show some skin. In fact, the boobs are your biggest asset. :) Use it in your advantage. ;) Maybe even change your star a bit from time to time (hairstyle and hair color are the obvious choices) - I did it last week and it payed of.

In the end, it's still in big portion about luck. Once I came up with a neat police-themed cover, my star was naked with a police hat on and a policeman by her side, the xxx sticker was strategically positioned so it would seem like she doesn't have any panties on, I payed with diamonds for my own raunchy and suggestive title... So here I was was expecting a great success only to fail miserably and find myself to be placed more badly in the competition than ever before without any reward at all. It was my worst result ever, even though I put a lot of effort into the cover. So as I said, you need some luck in order to come up with the right cover that will please the tastes of the voters in that initial crucial phase of voting that will decide whether you will stay in consideration for the rest of the week or not. My winning cover got to the top only in the last two days (I think it wasn't first until Sunday) when it started to show up more as a voting option.

Perhaps some innate sense for the aesthetics can help as well. I don't know if I personally have it, but the fact is, I try to make every cover at least somewhat pleasing. Sometimes, when I really don't like something (the title in most such cases) I invest diamonds to change it even if I know I won't submit the cover for the BBAs. I do it only sporadically now, but when I started this game and it seemed like you get diamonds everyday for something, I was customizing all of my initial covers, each with its original title etc. Som maybe because of this slight obsessiveness with perfection of mine, I was eventually rewarded with a win.

To be frank, to win the BBAs was one of my goals in this game. And every week I was gradually progressing closer towards it - the week before my win I was 10th and before that 14th. I believed more in the cover that placed 10th and didn't really expect to win with the one I did, but surprisingly it happened... Maybe I'll never win again, but I certainly have bigger ambitions. Since I saw that you can get a "Legend" title if you win 3 times, I immediately got my sights set on it (I don't care about most of the other titles that are relatively easily achievable and don't have such a nice ring to them :)). Now I'm 1/3 on the path of getting it. That's still a long way to go, but certainly a lot closer than a week ago... But not to be greedy, the "Superstar" title that you get for one win is also quite nice and rare, so I'm a happy camper... I mean pornstar... now. :)

Has anyone even seized that coveted "Legend" title yet? Well, I guess that Analis probably did...

BTW, I see your cover is in the Top 10 at the moment, Mynx. Maybe your time to shine has finally come.. ;) I wish you good luck for the rest of the week.

Well said, Amberson... thanks for your contribution.

I took notice of your victory this past week. Someone has to win it, so why not you?

I know Analis has 'won it all' more times than I can count. Would have earned a Double-Legend title (6 wins or more), maybe even Triple-Legend title... if there were such a thing.   (smug)

If somebody keeps stats on the Top 10 winners of weekly BBA, I'd be curious to know how many are from the Top 10 Studios....  What would the over/under be set at, 7 or 8 ?

Don't mention it. I'm happy to do a little self promotion in front of all the famous producers and bosses that read this forum and to make the other stars jealous... ah, I mean I'm happy to boost everyone's morale as a living proof that anybody can win. ;)

The interesting thing is that I didn't get that many more votes now than I did in the weeks when I was 10th, 14th or 20 something... I think the difference was about 15-20 votes. So every vote counts and can make a difference. And I also think that less people vote now than they did in the past. At least judging by how many votes you got, when you won before, Tara, and how many I got last week (around 150).

Analis actually placed right behind me. But she is in the Top 10 almost everytime, so second place is probably no big deal for her by now. Although I'm sure she wanted to win. But the rest of us also hope to stand in the spotlight at least once, if not three times :), so I'm glad I beat her this time. She will surely have her revenge in the future.

As far as keeping the stats go, I would welcome some kind of a "Hall of Fame" feature in the game that would let you see at least all the past winners with their covers, if not the whole Top 10 or complete ranking.

Btw, I'm surprised that you yourself didn't win three times, Tara, being such a prominent figure on this forum and a player in the game as well... One would even say that you're a legend of the BBE, so how come you don't have the certificate to officially prove it? I guess Analis robbed you of your deserved wins, huh? ;)

Heh, do I get some advantage for fawning over the moderator, or was it all for nothing? :)

Congrats on your win, Amberson! (stars)

I'm not a Legend yet though.

I'm at "2/3" here: the title isn't given retroactively.

Not entirely sure but Lursa is probably at 2/3 as well.

Sound advice you gave by the way in choosing/making your cover et al.

Another thing I'd say is: vote vote vote... I believe the BBA rewards participation.

Apart from that I think being active simply is key. That matters more than the studio you're in.

Putting some care in your covers, being recognisable, being social and active... it all helps.

I have to admit I do have the added advantage of being "known" though.

Most if not all in UK2 recognize my "face" if they ever bothered to look up a little.

And hehe. I'm not known to go for 2nd places, but not thàt much of a b to seek "revenge"

Thanks for the gratulation, Analis. Second place is also great, I think, especially if you're able to rank at the top repeatedly. ;) And of course, the remark about "revenge" was meant figuratively - that you will win it all again sometime.

Isn't being known also a disadvantage, though? After all, some people might feel frustrated or jealous about you and some other prominent players from the best studios being always in the top and because of that not vote for you... This thread even mentions some conspiracy theories about how the big studios manipulate the voting system to their advantage... That suspicion in itself can rub some people the wrong way.

So there's no certified legend at this time? That makes the title even more... legendary! :D Although, it's a little bit unfair that your previous victories under a different voting system don't count...

And I have one more little piece advice for aspiring winners: If you decide to use a default title, pick up something that sounds sexy (like the "Tantalizing Nipples: Uncensored" that I won with) or that can be matched with suitable alluring clothes (for example the epic nurse wardrobe). It won't make a great difference because most people don't care about the titles, I think, but it can still give you a slight advantage of a few extra votes that might turn out to be crucial in the end. If I get to choose between two great covers (sometime it happens) and can't decide which is better, the title can be the deciding factor that sways me a certain way.

Everybody loves me. I'm friggin adorable.

But of course you're right. Not everyone is as gracious or sportive as the next one.

Whether that number of people is substantial enough though to make a negative difference... I doubt it.

As for the voting theories. I've heard some flying as well lately. Where there's smoke there's usually fire.

But that same "jealousy" and "frustration" you mention is most usually the source of such chatter.

Like a moebius cycle: jealousy creates gossip, creating jealousy etc. etc.

I think the best way to paly a game, still is doing it your own way.

Comparing yourself to others càn be useful but also very exhausting.

I'm going to repeat myself, because I already wrote this to you in a PM, but the rumours are the reason why I decided to go forward and use myself as an example to demonstrate that even if they are true to a certain degree, you can still win no matter who you are and what studio you come from. ;)

Hi Amberson, before the voting system changed, my very first week of BBA I got lucky and finished 12th,  It took 8 more tries to get in the Top-20 finishing 14th. Since then the voting system changed to just one entry a week.

It took another 20 tries to finish 1st.  Two weeks after that, my entry finished 2nd.  We no longer see the votes of other entries, so there is no telling how many votes away that 2nd place finish was from coming in 1st but I too imagine one vote can go a long way in deciding ranks.

Other stats: I've had 56 weeks of movies submitted as of today, May 9, 2017.  Of those, 24 registered in the Top-100 (less than half at 42%).  Of those, 19 are in the Top-50, 11 in the Top-20, 4 in the Top-10, with finishes of 1st, 2nd, and two 7th place finishes.  It's not easy to win it all, let alone repeat... but on the flip side:

There are 52 of these recognition awards given out every year; someone has to win it all - so why not you?

Conspiracy theories aside, nobody has ever confirmed or denied participation in trying to manipulate final day rankings, but that would be the day to do it.  And it only makes sense, the most active of studios with the most active of memberships have the advantage in doing nothing but 'voting missions' on that final day to help that cause. Based on the odds, diamonds don't even need to be spent to move rankings but if you have more diamonds than you know what to do with, why not?  (smug)

And if it is part of the game (in the sense that the game mechanics allow for it), is it really manipulation?  That's another discussion for another thread.

Fawning?  Mods don't need fawning over.   :X   But thanks.   (grin)

Hi Analis, did the Legend title come out after one of your 3x 1st place finishes didn't count from the previous voting system?

Well... your Top-10 finishes are Legendary.  ;)

I see you dilligently keep your statistics, Tara. :)

Well, since you were curious how many players from the best studios end up in the weekly Top 10, I can provide you the data for my week... 1. Amberson, 2. Analis, 3. Lursa, 4. Krysta, 5. ayy, 6. Clydesdale, 7. Mynx (Youd did it, girl! Top 10! I didnt notice it before... :)), 8. Brittn3y, 9. Gertie, 10. Gigi71

I don't know all the players that much, but I would say that me and my studio buddy ayy are the weakest of the bunch (in terms of our achieved level, stats, studio etc.), almost everybody else is a top player from a top studio...

The mods might not need fawning over... but maybe the rest of us need to fawn over them anyway in order to get into their good graces. :) It's a hard biz after all and every connection that helps you to climb the ladder can help, right?

BTW, does anyone else dislike the "supreme sticker" that takes up the whole damn cover as much as me? I would say that’s also a big no-no in terms of your chances to win... at least in most cases, ‘cause I can't say that there was never an exception to this rule before.
