I don't know what level you are at, but I do believe some of these strategies might change as you progress in the game. For example, you may find the stats that worked for you in early level game play might not be your best stats to invest in for upper level game play.

If you are semi-new to the game, I recommend experimenting. You are allowed to duel 3x against any one opponent per day, (more if they hit you back). So if you barely lost a battle, go to YOUR STAR page and change your stats with your apparel / items, and try the same opponent again. Hopefully you win the next ones.

Adding certain SPECIAL REFINEMENTS to your items become obvious "game-changers". For example, adding 60% SMELLING SALTS (to your shoes) gives you a 6 out of 10 chance that you will be able to get in one more hit, whereas otherwise you would have lost. That alone can turn the tide in a close duel where you might have lost.
· You are allowed to FREELY refine one item per day, otherwise it cost diamonds.
· You can choose to re-refine an already refined item, but the chances of getting what you want is reduced by 17%.
Having this information gives you a fighting chance.
