It renews one Film Energy per minute for the duration of the production. I have not noticed this, but I will pay special attention next time.

Wait a minute here, the way that reads is that you had 10 energy and went to complete the mission and only had 5. Now is it possible that the mission took the 5 energy and you thought it had already taken the energy?

If you continue to notice this I would open a support ticket and include screen shots if at all possible.

It's happened to me too on my second film and both times I had to pay twice for the cover.

There is definitely a bug involving the Film Energy. I've encountered it three times, now. The second time I encountered the bug, I submitted a ticket with a screenshot.
The third time, I relogged first, tried again, and then took a screenshot.
I am not sure what the cause is, but sometimes it seems tasks take more energy than they say they do.

Yes, I'm losing energy a bit and sometimes I get a message that the crew needs a break even when I've got energy ... whew.

That's exactly what happens to me say a mission needs 7 energy and I have 7 it will say no enough
or as just happened I had 15 energy completed a mission requiring 9 energy now I am on 0 energy

I lost heaps of energy and my film was two and a half hours.
I didn't think that I'd get a three star rating this time but I made it.
And surprisingly I got 20,547 fans.
My highest yet.

There is a bug. When you choose Task, the game takes away 1 extra Film Energy than it should. I checked several times to confirm and it seems to be constant in Tasks.
I tried to screen shot, but it takes me at least a minute to take 2 screens shots and collect in between, so my 2 screen shots looks like I am not missing anything, but the game is definitely taking 1 extra energy for every Task mission played.
I sent a ticket.

I tried going for tasks with the highest film points and I never lost energy or got any "out of energy" messages.
And I still scored three stars but half the fans as my last film.
I don't know if this strategy would always work.
Just an observation.
Having said that we should be able to choose any task without constant problems.

I'm sure several people have reported this, including myself, and I received a response that mentioned that they are aware of the issue, and are working to fix it, however, they cannot give an estimated time for the fix.
I'm certain that it shall be fixed in due time.

There appears to be two posts about this issue also.
