This week (until Thursday when it changes) points are earned by selling items: one point for selling a common item, four points for a rare, and seven for selling an epic. Your studio page will have a little Temple icon on it, that'll show you your progress, and what's earning points every week.

All of the other Temples reward diligence, effort, a bit of skill.

Temples for Convention missions reward luck and stupidity.  You have to be lucky to be on, and stupid enough to spend diamonds on the lowest return for investment in the game.

And the solution is VERY simple:  Run enough conventions, all in Telleville, that this temple will indeed reward diligence and effort.  We know you have the technology, you did it for Gay Pride week.

So my suggestion is this: either fix this temple to be more in line with all the other temples

Or stop using this miserable idea, and never repeat a Temple for conventions mission.  Ever again.

Best regards,

Cap

My suggestion is to post the Convention Times in advance so people can plan their days accordingly and not just do this for the Temple-Convention challenges, do it ALL the TIME.

Do it similar to how it was done when hovering over the icon for Halloween at the Hooper's event in early Nov 2016 or in some other manner but let's stop with the charade of not knowing when the next convention is coming to town.

If Playata devs were to post the next 3 upcoming convention times and locations, I guarantee there will actually be more action which translates to more diamonds being spent in the conventions.

I have said this before, but you wouldn't go to a birthday party if you didn't know when it was going to start, so why are we doing this here?

I have said this before, but you wouldn't go to a birthday party if you didn't know when it was going to start, so why are we doing this here?

You know... That does sound good in theory.

But then again: I remember this one time when there was a convention at "Beach" for 60 minutes. I made the maximum normal amount of shows, was first from start to finish and did not need to use diamonds. At the end of the line though, I was passed with one show by Gigi71. Oooh yeah that still upsets me... hehe... but I also loved it. Because it was a fair "fight" for the 1st spot. And that doesn't happen a lot in conventions. The requirements that time were only just met. There weren't a lot of players involved. And my point is: sometimes these conventions are more "fair" when only passers-by notice them. It gives normal players a bigger chance of getting a nice top 10 spot, without getting trampled by diamond-runners. Not that there's something wrong with that. To each their own. But having NO warning about when a convention takes place, seems to me to be more fair to the community.

I understand your position Analis, but what is the end game?  Be fair to the players, have Playata make money, or both?

Conventions have always been about s/he who spends the most wins the most.

To be "fair" your example is rare, but I too have seen some low-flying under-the-radar conventions won with under 50 showings (47 was the count)... at 3 minutes per showing (assuming the 50% boosters are on), it would have taken 141 minutes to conduct (without using your 4x daily batteries, which saves 6 minutes).  Most conventions are 90 minutes in length, so even at 135 minutes (141-6=135), for this example, some diamonds would have been used, but not many.

But again, it is just a little absurd not to make it known when conventions are going to happen.  This is a planned event, not a pick-up basketball game or an impromptu shopping spree.  Let all the participants come to the showing and duke it out accordingly.

My 2.5 cents...  I'd still like to see ALL Conventions have times posted.  Some might consider it more fair this way especially during Temple-Convention events.

I prefer randomness normally but for special conventions (temple would count) give us a preview like has been done it the past

It seems like it's on the one hand, "this is how conventions work in real life" (they're announced in advance) and "this is how this bit of the game is meant to be" (a surprise event that you have to jump on when you see it, not plan in advance).  I get how the no-warning thing doesn't make sense, but if the devs want there to be a "surprise" facet to the game (and I don't think it's a bad thing) it might as well be this as anything.

Maybe it would be good to add a new element to conventions, so it works both ways a bit? Off the top of my head idea: 24 hours before a convention happens, a "convention notice" icon appears in one of the map zones, and you get a popup window drawing attention to it, same as actual convention icons/popups happen now. So you go to the notice, and you can choose a certain amount of energy to "commit" to that convention - that energy gets stored, and then when the convention happens, even if you aren't online right then, that amount of energy gets automatically used for convention shows. But also if you are online, you can do "manual" shows as well the same way they happen now (not using up energy), and if you committed energy earlier you get the benefits of both.

If the devs still want conventions to be a total "surprise" thing with the timing, it could happen so the notice pops up a random amount of time before - sometime between 24 and 48 hours - so you still don't know when exactly the convention will happen, and it can still be a surprise that you have to take advantage of in the moment, not set your watch and know when to come online to get it. That still isn't really "realistic" but hey it's a game, can't always have it all both ways.

What I think the effect of that would be is that conventions would still be won by people who are there at the right time and take full advantage of their luck (ideally by putting in hard work, but using diamonds, that's fair enough too, let's face it the diamond players are paying for all the work that goes into the game, and unlike a lot of "free" games BBE is really very fair to non-paying players a lot more than most games). But there's also this other level where players who aren't "lucky" can be part of it, and while they won't be getting top-10 spots, they get something. And there is also the decision, how much energy to commit - do I put in 10 energy and keep doing missions today, or do I commit 100 energy, not be able to do a lot of other missions, but get a bigger convention reward (and maybe win big if I happen to be online when the convention drops, and combine all that committed energy with doing manual shows as well).  (Having at least 24 hours notice means even if the notice happens near the end of a day, when you've already used your energy, you'll have time to to commit energy the next day before the convention starts if you want to.)

In my head that would be like, you know the convention's happening, and committing energy is like booking your seat at the autograph tables and putting an ad on your porn website that you're going to be there. Then the manual shows are extra stuff you do at the convention that's not pre-arranged, you mingle with fans, do interviews - it makes sense a bit that there's luck in that, you could be lucky and bump into a big-name star and get invited to join their show, or be in the right place when local news is looking for someone to interview, stuff like that.

No offense to all of the above posters, but you are trying to fix CONVENTIONS with those comments.

I am talking about a broken TEMPLE.

The good temples, you always have something to do.  You are working towards a goal. You are searching for a party ticket, finding the next mission, checking rewards for the right kind of movie... And you get pretty much immediate feedback, the points are changing constantly, you feel like you are part of a great moving alive event.

This TEMPLE sucks. There is no other word for it... you spend your time sitting around and waiting for it. There is no activity, there is no ability to WORK for it.  You just have to be lucky to be on when they finally get off their asses and schedule a convention.

And the first one is all but guaranteed to be on Beverly Humps, so the fewest possible people can participate.

And again, it is so stupidly easy to fix: Simply make NUMEROUS, ACCESSIBLE conventions like they did during the Gay Pride event. I don't care if the convention times are published or not, for this temple, there need to be a lot of conventions in Tellville.  Multiple per day.

What a Christmas temple.  Bah, humbug.

I repeat my suggestion to get us back on track:

=============================================

Fix this TEMPLE with numerous, accessible conventions

Or NEVER run this stupid TEMPLE again.

=============================================

Hey Cap, I don't think having an "always on" convention fixes things, but I can see your point about having the frequency increased, or moving the show to Tellville all the time to increase the accessibility.  All that will help for this Temple Challenge.

I've slept too many times since Pride Week - what was done then?  It was not Temple related, was it?  I mean Temple wasn't even a thing then, was it?

The Gay Pride event had almost incessant conventions in Tellville.  Maybe every four or six hours.

It was not Temple related - as you say, Temples weren't a thing then.

If that was happening during this Temple?

a) Everyone has a very good shot of hitting a convention during their normal login

b) People don'tt have to sit around for DAYS waiting for a chance to help their studio

c) The Temple rewards effort and determination, not just luck

All my issues go away.

Just to clarify, I am not suggesting an 'always on' convention. I did not mean to imply that at any point, sorry if I did.

As currently constructed, I think the current Temple for completing convention shows should simply be scrapped. I would go so far as to say they should do it tomorrow. Give everyone a skill point and a diamond, and start up the next Temple. I would rather have a short duration Temple than have to endure this current abomination.

If Playata wants to highlight conventions with a dedicated Temple, I am OK with that.  But everyone should have the ability to generate Temple points every day - and the best mechanism I see for that is frequent conventions that everyone can participate in. The closest analogue I have seen in game was the Gay Pride parades, so that is what I am suggesting, rather than something completely new.

If Playata wants to come up with a different mechanism, I am fine with that, too.  They generally do a very good job. But again, everyone has to be able to participate every day, and it should reward diligence and effort, in keeping with the rest of the Temples.

I only have one minor thought to add to this.🤔
I find it interesting that this forum explodes when the temple run is focused on conventions. This place has been so quiet for a couple of weeks. Until now 😬

👍🏻By the way ... Analis, you're an excellent opponent, I'm honored to be mentioned by you. I should mention though ... you passed me once as well. I think we might be even. 😉

I had no intent to break TOS.  And thought my subject was different enough to warrant a different subject.

Conventions <> Temples, after all.

My only concern is that we need two suggestions, not just one.

1) Fix conventions - publish times, etc.

2) Fix the Temple that asks for convention missions - by running frequent conventions in accessible locations.
